WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — A man was killed and another was arrested on suspicion of murder after a shooting at a cemetery in Wheat Ridge Saturday night.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said officers with Wheat Ridge Police were the first to respond to reported gunshots at Crown Hill Cemetery located in the 7700 block of West 29th Avenue.
Officers learned that there was a fight at a gravesite between people known to each other that turned physical.
One woman was taken to the hospital for injuries suffered during the assault, where she was treated and released, the sheriff's office said.
They also found a man with a gunshot wound who was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators rounded up people in the area of the cemetery and were able to identify the suspected shooter among the group, the sheriff's office said.
He was booked into the Jefferson County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and second-degree assault. The sheriff's office will release his identity when it's available.
The victim killed in the shooting will be identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
