DENVER — Happy Sunday! We'll have a mix of sun and clouds to start the new week thanks to some monsoon moisture rotating through the state.
The plume of moisture will set the stage for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the next few days. A few of those storms could be strong to severe on the eastern plains.
In the mountains and foothills, we will have to keep a close eye on burn scars for the potential to see problems with flash flooding.
Temperatures this week will stay at or above normal for this time of year. In Denver, it will still be hot, but at least a few degrees cooler than it was on Saturday. The hottest weather today will be found on the southeast plains where some locations in the Arkansas River Valley will see low 100s.
If you plan to go to the Denver Broncos game this evening it will be pleasant in terms of the temperature. We anticipate low 80s around kickoff with mid 70s by the end of the 4th Quarter. There is a 30% chance to see a thunderstorm with cloud-to-ground lightning and gusty wind being the main threats.
Thunderstorm chances will go up a bit on Monday as additional monsoon moisture comes into the region. The increased cloud cover will bring temperatures down a few degrees.
